So a few days ago I asked my mom if I could go to her workplace in Lolita. Now it would be cool to tell you that she said yes and I went and everyone loved it. That would be a dream come true. But unfortunately, she said no. I then asked the stupid question, why? Her respone; She wasn't ready to be seen with me in lolita. "It's too new and will attract alot of stares" - My mom.
And to an extent, she's right. If you around and ask people you aren't friends with if they know lolita, they will probably say no. Not many know what it is. Heck where I live, barely anyone even likes clothing outside of Hot Topic and Areopostale. We're an odd community. But lets say that a bright pink cloud of fluff walked into the school. What would be said? There might be some rude comments. There might be some laughs. Hell, there might be some people who might acutally try to dirty you up! But there are a few who would be all AWWWWWW over your outfit.
But is it really worth the risk? Do you risk time and money just to have it thrown back into your face that your different?
At my school, it's not worth the risk. Too much dirt, not enough room for pettis and if your different at my school, your more likely to be harrassed by peers. It's horrible but true. So I won't wear lolita to school, except maybe to dances or on half days. But that's my choice and don't let it deter you from wearing it everywhere you'd like to. I'd wear it food shopping if I could but sadly, I do that with my mom as well. So no loli outside of meetups just yet. But I think I'm wearing her down. She does show a more positive reaction when I mention it and the fact that it's modest, she adores!
So tell me, where do you wear lolita? And how do you keep the mess away from it?
Until next time,

I wear lolita everywhere, everyday. ^w^ Even when I sleep. ^^ I have some cute nightgowns. ♥
ReplyDeleteI think that the people that don't wear lolita everyday are most likely to see lolita as a costume because they are not able to wear it everyday.. If it's not a costume and it is a proper fashion why you wouldn't wear it at school or at work?
Actually, I don't care about what others might say or might think. If they laugh of stare, I just smile at them. If they ask questions, I answer politely. ~
Where do you find cute nightgowns? I look everywhere in my town and all I can find are the sexy kind. :( It really bums me out cause it gets hot here!
