Sorry...

Sorry about the non updating status in a long while. I've been stressing out over some internal and external problems. I will be able to blog as soon as a few things are over and I get back to my normal self... what ever that may be. So thank you for understanding and I'll update when my stress isn't so high.

PS. All NC lolitas, don't forget about the meetup at Crabtree Valley Mall on September 11, 2010. We will meet near Sanrio Suprises. The store is located near Popalops and the Food Court.

Qutieland Problems

Well, it's offical. There won't be a review for Qutieland due to one thing. Apparently Paypal thinks that Qutieland has been working with fraudulent byers and won't let us pay. It even went as far as to suspend my mothers account for trying to pay them. So no Wonder Cookie Jsk....no Dreamy Dollhouse skirt...nothing. I am really sorry you guys. I did try but....it's not happening.

Tiny wardrobe problems

Tiny wardrobe got you down? You have your inspiration but your inspiration but... so few clothes. Not to worry. There is a few ways to salvage it and make it look like you have a few new peices.

Sew - Sewing is cheap (depending on what your buying and where), it's fairly easy ( depending on what your doing), and it's fun. But lets just say you don't have the money to afford a ton of fabric to make that skirt. Well, instead, make some new waist ties to go with your skirt. Or a new head acessory.  You can pick cause it's your wardrobe.

Try on every single peice - That may be a weird way to make coords but it works. Put on colors that you wouldn't really put together. Tyr different combos of brands, socks, and even put a some other subculture twists on your style. Or even go over the top and raid your jewelry box for a crazy decora inspired look.

Thrift - When I go thrifting, I'm always looking out for weird but new things. I have a white pleated skirt that I plan on using for a school inspired lolita outfit. I just have to find some lace to put around the edge of the skirt. But you can find other cool stuff as well. Jewelry, fabric from sheets, and even cute accessories. There are even a few places that have items to lolify your living space.

Look at other coords - "But I don't have that dress/shoes/acessory/etc.." Yes you do. You just have to tweak what they do to fit with your wardrobe. Take this.

This picture is a simple coord. A skirt, a bluse, some shoes, socks, and a few accesories. Now your probably saying that you couldn't do it. Yes you can! You can make an outfit like that. "But I don't own a skirt." Turn you JSK or OP into one by wearing a jacket or blouse on the outside of it. "But I don't own those shoes" You don't need to. Just find a pair of simple shoes that you already wear for lolita and match them with your outfit. "I'm low on accesories" Well, so am I. But places like Claires and Icing usually have cute stuff for pretty cheap. You can also look at the craft or holiday sections in Dollar Stores. Some girls have found quite a few items in there.

So tell me, what has been your favorite thrifty find? Do you sew as well?
Until next time,
Beckers <333

Ps. My order has been confirmed with Qutieland and will probably be in September :( I was hoping for it sooner. Oh well.
Pss. As stated in the last post, I don't steal. If you want it down, just let me know.

Inspiration....from where?

Bloggers, lolitas, artists, etc... everyone must draw inspiration from all around them. But some days you wake up and....nothing. Nothing inspires you. Nothing pops and says "HEY! Look at me!" But it happens to the best of us? So how do you get inspired? I know what I do...

Read other blogs - Yeah, yeah. That's kinda obvious but it's true. Sometimes one article can cause you to write a response or even go to a different topic. Sometimes they have tutorials for different styles or how to make a few items. Like F Yeah Lolita's tut on how to make waist ties into hairbows. It's a pretty neat thing but I'll never do it. Why? Cause I have a secret obsession with waist ties. I dunno, something about the bow on my back just makes me feel really special.

Pictues - My thing is just look at them and imagine the way you'd do things. Like if they wear pink and lavender coordinate, how would you do it? Would you coose the same colors or just pick one? Or maybe you'd do the same excat thing except in a different style? Or maybe the theme is just somehting you've always wished to do for an outfit. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and in this case a thousand words.

Music - Now this might be harder but to me, music is an inspiration among itself. When I hear christmas music, I immediately think of long sleeved blouses, extra pettis to keep out the chill, long bloomers, more one peices, etc... Lots of wintery items for the chilly loli. But when techno music dances up, for some reason I think of Angelic Pretty. Maybe it's the neonic colors and wild prints that make me think of a rave gone victorian. I dunno, it might be just me.

People watching - This could be argued as also looking at pictures but I digress. Pictures are made to look pretty while the person has a choice to be pretty or not. Just looking at people you can tell what fashions are in, who has the money to afford the real deal, and what a person is even like. Try it sometimes. Just go to a mall, park, or just a crowded place in general and stare at someone (But try to be discreet). You can tell so much from the way a person acts, talks, moves, and even dances.

So surely that must be it? No. we have one more MAGICAL....ok, not really magical but...it's awesome alright! There is one last thing you can get inspiration from.

Your wardrobe - Huh? My closet? Isn't that the problem I'm trying to solve, that I have no inspiration to wear anything in my closet?  Well that's your problem. Your looking at your wardrobe the WRONG WAY! Take my miniscule closet of lolidom. I have one blouse, two skirts, a petti, and a headbow. That's it. But do I cry....a little.....just kidding. I try and make the best of what I find and/or have. I have a new pair of OTK socks thanks to Target. And the wonderful extra fabric I have laying around makes a great mini bow pillow. You just gotta take your items from a different angle. You like pink like me? Well try lavender and pink! Or even pink and black. You see there are hundreds maybe even thousands of combinations just waiting for you in your closet.

So tell me, what inspires you the most? And what's your most prized peice of clothing?
Until next time,

Web Loli: Bed time.

So if your like most lolitas, you spend some  time on the internet. You might catch up on the latest styles, reading a scan of your favorite zine, or maybe your posting to Egl. But your still surfin the web. So what do you come across on the web? Maybe some sites like these:

Bed Curtians are to die for (I've wanted some sine I was little). Pink, somewhat sheer, and full of cuteness. *sighs* It would be a dream to havbe those. But usually, since they are for kids, they're made for the smaller beds. Some of the more classical or elegant lolitas out there might apperciate this. It seems to fit into a more regal perspective of things, don't you think?

Nightgowns ( as one of my commenters wrote) are something special for sleep that lolitas can wear. Now it gets REALLY hot where I live and even at night I'll sweat. So a breezy nightgown might do the trick. This one  is pretty simple, not so much frilly but it does the trick of being able to breathe. For those who want a bit more frills, nightgown number two might be the one for you.

What else does a loli need in her room? A place for all her dresses, skirts, and everything else right? A wonderous place for storage. But.... your closet is not the answer? No, a dresser is! Pink dresser rules! But for the more gothic and classical lolis you might enjoy this lovely number.

So I'll be doing more of these Web Loli posts. But I was inspired to do this one by the comment from PetiteTomoyo a couple of entries back. Her grandmother gave her some night gowns and I thought "What else do lolis need for bed time?" So what do other lolis need for bed time? Tell me.

Until next time,

Lolita inspiration

As you know, when you write, you have to be in the moment of inspiration. But what inspires you?  Looking at other outfits or reading your favorite zine? I can tell you what inspires me though. Youtube. I'm not kidding. Youtube has some great , and not so great, videos of lolitas. Some are vlogs but most that I find are people who want to learn about the lolita fashion or little documentaries of the fashion itself.

IMF Local Feed series had a special webisode about lolita fashion where the host met Nana Kitade, a lolita herself. She was dressed in a punk lolita outfit with a bit of sweet charm. It was pretty cute in my opinion. She took him (and the viewers) on a store tour of Btssb's secret shop *insert awe here*. The host, whose name I cannot find, gets to talk to not only her but other lolitas who live and vist there as well. I've watched this video many times and I can't get over the fact on how amazing the store is!

RosieOs is youtuber and a blog spot blogger who frigging rules! Even though her blog mostly in spanish, she has a full english channel on youtube. She talks about lolita items in her wardrobe and the cuteness that she goes to. She went to Fantaisies Dans Le Monde Des Reves and you might have seen her there. Check her out cause she is an AP girl and is here to rock your world.

Shelby Cloud is this sweet vlogger who talks about all the lolita issues from coordinating your outfits to self esteem. It seems that she's like all the bloggers except she uses her voice instead of typing out words. She's very lovely and I'd kill to have that wardrobe.

The last three are documentaries about the fashion itself. This one is about the girls who wear the fashion as is this one as well. They both showcase lolitas in a positvie light and setting. The girls are sweet and polite, they use what little on screen time they have to their advantage and their outfits are soooooo cute! :3 Frilly in the City is also a cute little documentary about lolita fashion that is totally worth watching.

So take some time and watch some videos. You'll see something you'll like.
Until next time,

Lolita outside of meetups

So a few days ago I asked my mom if I could go to her workplace in Lolita. Now it would be cool to tell you that she said yes and I went and everyone loved it. That would be a dream come true. But unfortunately, she said no. I then asked the stupid question, why? Her respone; She wasn't ready to be seen with me in lolita. "It's too new and will attract alot of stares" - My mom.

And to an extent, she's right. If you around and ask people you aren't friends with if they know lolita, they will probably say no. Not many know what it is. Heck where I live, barely anyone even likes clothing outside of Hot Topic and Areopostale. We're an odd community. But lets say that a bright pink cloud of fluff walked into the school. What would be said? There might be some rude comments. There might be some laughs. Hell, there might be some people who might acutally try to dirty you up! But there are a few who would be all AWWWWWW over your outfit.

But is it really worth the risk? Do you risk time and money just to have it thrown back into your face that your different?

At my school, it's not worth the risk. Too much dirt, not enough room for pettis and if your different at my school, your more likely to be harrassed by peers. It's horrible but true. So I won't wear lolita to school, except maybe to dances or on half days. But that's my choice and don't let it deter you from wearing it everywhere you'd like to. I'd wear it food shopping if I could but sadly, I do that with my mom as well. So no loli outside of meetups just yet. But I think I'm wearing her down. She does show a more positive reaction when I mention it and the fact that it's modest, she adores!

So tell me, where do you wear lolita? And how do you keep the mess away from it?

She's going to college and will be walking alot so flats might do her some good.
Lucky, I am so happy for you and I wish you all the best. One day I know your going to make a name for yourself. So good luck and we'll talk soon.
For the readers, Lucky will eventually be making a guest apperance on here to talk about college and photography. If you have a question for her, leave it in the comment section and I'll try to get her to answer them.
Until Next time,

Ps. I did make this polyvore so no using it unless you ask first.

This or That?

Now the community has been always on the bench about replicas. Some yay!,  some are neutral, and some can't stand them. So what would you rather wear? This or that

    OR

What we have here are two very similar dresses. Now I can't go into detail about the similarities and differeneces cause I don't own either dress (I am in the process how ever of the getting the replica). I will eventually show you the replica when it comes in...eventually. But the pictures don't show much of a difference. The lace at the bottom is different. While AP's is pink the replica (made by Dream of Lolita) has white lace. The ruffles also seem to be different. The replica seems to have lace ruffles while the original has ruffles out of fabric. That might be the picture but unless I can examine both in real life, I can't say much *sigh*

So tell me, are replicas worth the money saving offer? Did the replicas you buy acutally deliver? Or is better to throw down the 200 bucks for the real deal? Leave your intresting or creative respones BELOW! And who ever can guess where that came from gets to choose a topic for me to write about :)

Until next time,

The Scale *insert dramatic music here*

Now weight is a semi touchy subject for me. My dad has called me fat on a few occasions. Yes he says he's trying to help but it doesn't really work when he critizies my eating. But that's beside the point. The point is that when I weighed myself a few days ago (like Friday), I came to about 175 lbs. Now the scale we have is craptastic and yes I'll admit, I have gained weight over the year but...that much? That's 25 lbs from the beginning of the school year! Surely it must have not been that much? But there are many causes for weight gain.

Stress:
Stress happens. It's in little kids. It's in young adults. It's in adults as well. Stress, well for me, caused me to freak out so much that I would eat to make myself feel better. Food clamed me but went straight to my thighs >.< So when your stressed try stay away from food. Go for a walk. Watch some mind numbing televison. Talk about something with your friends/ family. Just don't eat! It goes straight into the fat.

Depression:
Now this might be a touchy subject for some. Now people cannot say I don't know about the effects of depression, cause I do. I'm on Prozac right now. This medicine, even though it might not be likely, can cause weight gain! I did start gaining weight when I took it so it might be it. But some of the fat is mine. Now just untreated depression can do the same thing stress does and casue the person to eat to make themselves feel better.

Boyfriend/Girlfriend:
You might think "He/she is so perfect! How can he make me gain weight?" Well it all goes back to stress. Relationships can cause more stress than you think. Your always worrying that he/she won't like your outfit, you got something in your teeth, you gotta talk to him/her all the time, etc. You get my point right? Good :3
Now this might cause you to eat more unconciously but most likely you'll stop eating to try and look good for your other. But how does that make you gain weight? Without it's regualr dosage of food, your metabolism will begin to slow down. That being said, if you still eat the same amount, less of it will turn to energy and more will turn to fat.

School Lunch:
This is just a gimmie right here. Everyone knows about the controversy that schools are having with their lunches. If you don't read this article about what school lunches do to your body. Most school lunches are high in salt, sugar, and fat. All those fries will go to your thighs! The other side of the issue is (well at least at my school) that the healthy lunches are limited and very nasty. The salad is limp and going bad. The greens look to have been cooked in oil. Fruits are dirty and really bruised. It's hard to eat helathy when your options are so limited.

So that's it basically. Those are a few things that have made me and probably others gain weight. I stopped eating school luch but I still have a way to go before I fit into brand.
Until Next time,
Beckers <333

Ps. What makes you gain weight? And how do you lose it/keep it off?
Pss. No pictures or articles are mine unless stated.

Welcome and Hiya

Hello World. My name is Becky. And this is my blog.

(Not the greatest pic of me)

Your probably wondering what the hell it's about? Well, this blog is a loli blog but not entirely. You see many women today deal with obesity. I am one of them. This will be my journey into the world of loli and the story of how I lose the weight that I need to. But before I actually post, I have three things to say.

1. Don't let brand get you down.
Brands like Angelic Pretty and MMM are always going to make small sizing becasue their biggest consumer, japanese girls, are smaller in size. Don't be discouraged in wearing it. Just find your own brand and wear that. I love AP to death but never can really fit it. So, what am I going to do? The sane thing.

2. Replicas are your friend.
Big or small, short or tall, all brands are expensive. It takes me a year to save up to buy some items. (No job at the moment :[ ) But Egl Comm Sales usually takes that fear out of us. But even so, some of us cannot fit into the items for sale. But we still want to look like that! So where do we turn to? Replicas. Stores like Dream of Lolita and Kidsyoyo do many replicas of AP. They make them custom size if you order from Quiteland. If you buy from the regular site, I don't know if they do custom sizing. Still, if you can tell me! :3

And 3. Life is like a box of chocolates.
And that is true. But with all the cookie cutter boxes of chocolate out these days, you always know which one to go for. The round ones have cherries (ew x[  ), the longer ones are usually like crackers with a chocoalte coating, etc... You get my drift. So how does this relate to real life? Simple. You always are going to go for the safe option that you like, which in my case, is fine. But what would happen if you went to a different option? Would you like it? Would you hate it? You don't know until you try. We're all chocolate on teh outside but the inside, we are all different fillings.

So remember, be proud of who you are. You may not fit into brand. You may not be able to fit into the brand you want to. But you wanna know something? Your you. And that's what makes you special. So eat your chocolate or your fruit! Be your wonderful self!
Until next time,
Beckers <333
